Primark is set to open a new store at Glasgow Fort this December, marking a major addition to its UK portfolio. Recruitment for 200 permanent roles has now begun as the retailer gears up for the grand opening.
The new 33,500 sq. ft store will span two floors, offering Primark’s popular range of clothing, kidswear, beauty, lifestyle, and home products. The recruitment drive will fill positions such as retail assistants, stockroom colleagues, and P&C administrators, with roles starting as early as October to ensure the store is ready for the peak shopping period.
Competitive Pay and Benefits
Primark is offering a starting pay rate of £12.00 per hour for all roles. In addition, employees will benefit from a year-round 15% discount on Primark products, as well as an employee assistance programme and pension package. The company is committed to employee development, providing training programmes to help team members build a career within the retail industry.
A Growing Business with Local Opportunities
Carolanne Molloy, store manager for Primark Glasgow Fort, expressed her enthusiasm for the new store: “I’m really proud to be launching a brand-new Primark at Glasgow Fort and bringing more of what people know and love about us to shoppers in Scotland. But now I need a brilliant team to join me! I can say from experience that Primark is a fantastic place to work and it’s also a very exciting time to be joining us as we’re a growing business and stalwart on the Great British high street.”
Those interested in applying for the roles can meet with Primark representatives at a job fair on Thursday, 26th September.
Part of a Broader Expansion
The Glasgow Fort store will be Primark’s 195th in the UK and its 21st in Scotland. This opening is part of the retailer’s £100 million investment in UK stores this year, as it celebrates 50 years on the British high street. Primark has also opened new stores in Bury St Edmunds and Teesside Park, alongside upgrading over 15 stores as part of its ongoing refit programme.
Positive Impact on the Local Community
Phil Goodman, centre director at Glasgow Fort, said: “We know that our shoppers are very much looking forward to Primark joining the centre soon – as are the whole team! Not only will it be a fantastic addition to our existing fashion, beauty and home brands, but it’s great to see just how many roles are being created and the new opportunities it’s bringing to the local community.”
