Amazon has announced plans to hire more than 15,000 temporary staff across its UK network of centres and delivery stations to meet customer demand during the busy Christmas season.
According to the company, pay rates will start at £13.50 an hour, rising to £14.50 depending on the location, with London positions offering the higher rate.
Anil Verma, Amazon’s UK operations director, said: "We prepare year-round for the festive season, and we're excited to have more than 15,000 positions available this year in the UK. Our seasonal colleagues play an integral role in helping us deliver an exceptional experience for our customers.”
Verma also noted that many seasonal workers return to Amazon year after year, adding: “We look forward to welcoming both familiar faces and new team members.”
Expansion with New Nottingham Centre
Alongside its seasonal recruitment drive, Amazon recently opened a new fulfilment centre in Eastwood, Nottingham. The facility will create a range of job opportunities, including roles in engineering, HR, IT, health & safety, and finance, as well as warehouse staff responsible for picking, packing, and shipping customer orders.
Prashant Pandey, Amazon’s regional director, said: "This is the eighth fulfilment centre in the East Midlands region, a further sign of our commitment to the communities in which we operate."
With its extensive recruitment efforts, Amazon aims to meet growing demand during the festive period while continuing to expand its operations in the UK.
